Nutella French Toast

Back into the kitchen! Well, back to blogging really, because, let’s be honest, I’m never far from the kitchen.
The kids have been getting an easy start back to school; so here’s a simple one for you too. It’s so good; you’ll be amazed what can be done with stale bread and an egg.
I make it for a quick but special breakfast or afternoon snack for the children. But, add some strawberries and whipped cream and you’ll get a fast desert with some serious wow factor.
Tried & Tasted Recipe:
  • 4 slices of brioche or white bread
  • Nutella (chocolate spread)
  • 1 egg
  • 10 cl milk or single cream
  • 1tbsp vanilla sugar (or 1 tbsp sugar +1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Icing sugar
Spread some Nutella on bread and sandwich together. Don’t be greedy with the chocolate or it’ll leak out when cooking. You can always lick the spoon…
Mix the egg, sugar and milk in a shallow bowl.
Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture.
Melt the butter in a non-stick pan.
Fry the sandwiches on both sides until dry and golden.
Serve, sprinkled with lots of icing sugar. Voilà!
